“Where’d you get the name?”
It’s always one of the first questions people ask me when they hear about White Ivy, and it’s a valid one. A name carries a lot of meaning, and I knew that it would have to be representative of the company as a whole and the way we do business.
It may have been the hardest thing about starting the company. In fact, I have a whole graveyard of names that didn’t make the cut. I decided to share a few of them, just for fun:
- Events by Amanda – How original, right?
- Aurora Events – Aurora means dawn. Dawn marks the beginning of a new day, and a marriage marks the beginning of a new chapter in life.
- Lovely & Lace – I have absolutely no idea where this one came from, but looking back I’m glad it didn’t make the cut!
These names that never came to be show you just a glimpse of the brainstorming that went into the choice of White Ivy Events. So here’s why White Ivy came out on top:
By definition, when an ivy plant grows, it’s all consuming. It grips onto its support, and gradually becomes stronger. The longer you let ivy grow, the harder it is to break. That’s how I believe marriage should be.
At White Ivy Events, we want your marriage to come first, and that’s why we say leave the wedding planning to us! It takes away the stress so you can focus on what really matters – see my recent post about the most important thing when wedding planning.
My hope for each of my White Ivy brides is that you would have a marriage like this: all consuming, always growing stronger, unbreakable.
